About

Dr. Ronald Gordon is a Board Certified anesthesiologist with extensive experience in all aspects of clinical anesthesiology. He headed an anesthesiology department in central Tennessee for many years while also providing both postoperative and chronic pain services to surgical patients. He coordinated anesthesiology care for a busy obstetrics service with over 500 deliveries annually and provided consultations and ventilator management for his hospital’s intensive care unit.

In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Gordon has a Ph.D. from Princeton University in Chemical Engineering and was a tenured full professor at the University of Florida.

Dr. Gordon has worked in the academic sector at Vanderbilt University, the University of Washington, the University of California at San Diego and the University of Florida. He spent 8 years as a consultant anesthesiologist at the Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego and a year practicing anesthesiology at the Kaiser Sunset Medical Center in Los Angeles.

While at Florida, he frequently collaborated with faculty in anesthesiology, cardiology and cardiac surgery and had numerous publications and presentations at national meetings in the field of biomedical engineering. He ran a busy, well funded research program and directed the efforts of both master’s and PhD students.

He has published, consulted, and lectured extensively in the field of anesthesiology.

He also has written and continues to write continuing education questions for the ASA dealing with modern anesthesia practice.

He has given numerous depositions and testimonies in the area of medical malpractice and was a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology’s (ASA) closed malpractice claims committee.

Finally, he enjoys patient advocacy and enjoys working to bridge the gap between what a patient needs to know about safe anesthesia and surgery and what they do know or are led to understand.
